Thomas Brostrøm - President, North America

Thomas Brostrøm serves as the President of DONG Energy Wind Power's North American business. In this role, Thomas oversees all North American operations for DONG Energy Wind Power, including the company's utility-scale offshore wind development projects in Massachusetts and New Jersey.

 

Thomas initially joined DONG Energy in Denmark in 2009 where he served as Business Developer and Mergers & Acquisitions and later Head of the Renewables Strategy team.

 

He moved to DONG Energy's UK office in 2012 where he was instrumental in building the company's utility-scale offshore wind business. He initially served as Head of Project Development UK for DONG Energy Wind Power where he led and oversaw offshore wind project development of DONG's large UK portfolio. In this role, Thomas led the development of the 1.2 megawatt Hornsea project, the world's largest offshore wind farm, and the Burbo Bank Extension project, which uses 8 megawatt Vestas turbines – the largest turbines in the world.

 

Thomas also served on the board of RenewableUK – the leading renewable energy trade association in the UK. In 2014, Thomas was named Director of Commercial and Market Development where he oversaw all commercial and market development activities for DONG Energy Wind Power.

 

Prior to joining DONG Energy, Thomas was in the investment banking and venture capital business.

 

Thomas studied Business Analysis & Valuation and Mergers & Acquisitions at Harvard University and received his master's degree in Finance and International Business from Aarhus University in Denmark. He was also an Instructor in corporate finance at Aarhus School of Business in Denmark.

Lauren Burm - Head of Public Affairs

 

​Lauren is the Head of Public Affairs. In her role, she oversees the company's public affairs, communications, community relations, stakeholder engagement and collaborations at the national, state and local level. She leads the company's communications efforts to bring awareness to the economic growth, innovation, jobs and renewable energy benefits of offshore wind. She also oversees the company's outreach, engagement and media relations activities regarding DONG Energy Wind Power's utility-scale initiatives in Massachusetts and New Jersey. 

 

Prior to joining DONG Energy, Lauren managed community relations, communications and served as spokesperson for Entergy Corporation's Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station. 

 

Earlier, Lauren served as an aide in both the legislative and executive branches of Massachusetts' State government, including communications and legislative aide for two State legislators and a Massachusetts State Senator as well as serving as Program Coordinator for the Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety and Security.

 

Lauren holds a degree in communications from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.

Frederick Zalcman - Head of Government Affairs

 

​Fred Zalcman is DONG Energy's Head of Government Affairs Manager for DONG Energy Wind Power's North American business. His work focuses primarily on creating robust, self-sustaining markets for offshore wind energy. Zalcman has nearly 30 years of experience in the energy field as an attorney and policy analyst.

 

Prior to joining DONG Energy, Fred was Managing Director of External Affairs for the Eastern U.S. for SunEdison, the world's largest renewable energy developer, where he spearheaded legislative and regulatory efforts resulting in the exponential growth of distributed solar across multiple state markets.  Previously, Zalcman was the Executive Director of the Pace Law School Energy and Climate Center, one of the nation's preeminent sustainable energy research, education and advocacy groups.

Maurice Gulson - U. S. Project Development Manager

 

​Maurice Gulson is the US Project Development Manager. He has more than 25 years' experience, managing large multidisciplinary onshore & offshore infrastructure projects, also brings management and hands-on experience in; finance, engineering, onshore and offshore subsea construction, vessel operations, including transmission & substation project management.
